Helshoj, who won the prestigious Silver Medal award from the Queen of Denmark because of his proficiency in the woodworking field, decided to start a business that would take America’s woodworking industry a level higher. Torben and his partners chose to import European machines to serve as the foundation of the business that came to be known eventually as Laguna Tools.
